Family Healthcare for Hutt Valley and Wainuiomata

Is paying for a Doctor or Nurse a problem?

At HUTT CITY HEALTH CENTRES we believe it's important that you seek medical care when you or your family need help. However remember fees and charges need to be paid at the time of consultation, and/or when picking up prescriptions.

If you are having difficulties with finances please come in and talk to us, we're sure we can work things out. Unfortunately however we are unable to offer credit facilities to our patients.

If you are paying by automatic payment you can request a one-off yearly refund of accumulated funds in November each year.

However if your automatic payment is paid through WINZ you will need to get your Case Manager to call the Practice Manager to discuss this refund.

Have related charges caught you out?

Non-attendances, faxed scripts, other services and written payment requests all incur charges and we try to make these costs transparent.

Please contact our reception staff or write to us if you would like to speak in private about financial matters as we may be able to help you where hardship exists, long-term or temporary.

Contact reception who will assist you with alternative payment options.

Our Practice...

Doctor with patient - Lower Hutt Medical CentreHUTT CITY HEALTH CENTRE was established in April 2010 in response to a critical shortage of primary care in our Hutt Valley community. We have since enrolled over 11,800 patients in two locations, Hutt Central and Wainuiomata. Our role continues to grow.

We have a commitment as a teaching practice for medical and nursing students, post graduate trainees and registrars as well as providing continuing medical education for our own staff. Our local hospital is Hutt Hospital, managed by Wairarapa and Hutt Valley DHBs and we also care for patients in Riverleigh Residential Care, Elderslea, Heretaunga and Bob Scott Resthomes.

Our premises

In 2014 our Hutt City Central practice outgrew our initial High Street premises and moved into a new purpose-built Medical Centre at 5 Raroa Road. This has allowed us to expand the health services we offer you and provide attractive surrounds for our patients. Our new building is one of the safest in Lower Hutt, built to post-Christchurch seismic, construction and fire codes.

Also in 2013 we took over a Medical Centre in Wainuiomata, which is now located at 5 Fitzherbert Road. ‘Wainui’ is a very special place with its own character, friendly people and a true sense of community. We are fortunate to be part of it. In 2016 we took over Fitzherbert Medical and have relocated our Wainuiomata practice to 5 Fitzherbert Road.

Our goals

Being the best we can for those within our care remains our goal. We take this seriously.

In the future we will continue to focus on initiatives that provide improvements in healthcare for Hutt Valley and Wainuiomata. We want to educate, encourage and support our patients to achieve healthy lifestyles and live healthy lives.

Our promise

We are committed to not only treating you when you are unwell or injured but also to keeping you well. We endeavour to provide a high standard of services focusing on your health and wellness.
